Jimmy Carter

In 1969, Richard Nixon was inaugurated as the 37th president. Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin, Jr., became the first men to land on the Moon. In 1977, Jimmy Carter suceeded Nixon as the 39th president. In 1978, President Carter met with Egyptian president Anwar Sadat and Israeli prime minister Menachem Begin at Camp David; Sadat and Begin signed Camp David Accord, ending a 30-year conflict between Egypt and Israel.
